The EVIN RUDES: News

SUMMER MUSIC 2010 - July 26, 2010

WELL................... It's been a great summer so far. We ran the sound and stage for The Westwood Village Street Fair for the second year, The 34th (or so) Bothell LIVE ARTS summer festival and of course the OLDE BURIEN BLOCK PARTY. The EVIN RUDES performed for the Bothell event and the Burien block party. Plenty of other great entertainers were on hand too.

We have a couple more outdoor events and one of our favorite functions, The Hat Island Yacht Club Commodores Ball yet to do before looking forward to the fall line up. We'll try to keep you updated on any cjub gig's and public events.

And yet another great musician and friend passes on. - June 9, 2009

I have had the great fortune to work and spend time with some of the Northwests best artists. It is now with great sadness that I report I have lost a great friend and trumpet player Don Smith. Don and his wife Bonnie were the proprietors of Seattle Music on First Avenue when I met them for the first time as a customer.
Don was a professional trumpet player with many well known entertainers and band leaders such as Stan Kenton and on the road with such notables as Vic Damone and Johnny Mathis. Of course his local gigs for just about any act or show coming to town were well known by any and all Northwest musicians. Just ask any established jazz player about Don Smith and I am sure he'll have a story or two to tell.
I became a part-time employee for them while I was attending college. I left to find full time work but was called back to Seattle Music to fill a full time position. During this period of time Don and I designed and built a bigger better Seattle Music with a separate Pro Drum Shop. That was a great ride! Meeting professional players that would come to Seattle to buy their gear. Local musicians such as Dave Coleman sr, Baby Gramps, Dan Dean, the drummer from Golden Earring, delivering amps to the guys and gals in Heart and making trips to Kaye-Smith Recording Studios. Those were the days!!
As things progress and change, I left Seattle Music and moved on never forgetting the lessons I learned from both Don and Bonnie. I apply those professional values today at EFEX Electronics and with The EVIN RUDES.
I felt I had a very special relationship with Don over the last 15 years. Almost a father/son bonding that will stay with me and help me fulfill my goals for years to come.
I will miss him very much.

The passing of a great musician and friend. - August 20, 2008

I just want to take a moment to pay tribute to Joe Shikany. I met Joe when I was working at Joo's Music West in the 70's. We ran into each other from time to time and it was always a great visit. Joe, I'll miss you for who you were and all I learned by watching you play.

EXTRA!! EXTRA!! EXTRA!! - January 4, 2006

OK !!! IT'S OFFICIAL !!! The EVIN RUDES is now a trio specializing in 70's and 80's rock . A new more powerful approach and fresher song lists. The EVIN RUDES will spend the first couple of months up dating the song list and working out the three man formula. Ed will head up most of the lead vocals while playing keys and keyboard bass.  Danny will always provide the guitar work  and backup vocals. Jim will work the percussion and add backup vocals also. This will be an exciting year for The EVIN RUDES and you can be sure they will "rock your socks off" at any gig you catch them at. Good luck guys. You'll be great !!!
